Artificial intelligence is not a new thing nor an absurd critical thinking of a dreamer to us anymore. AI is rapidly growing and has a massive role in our day-to-day life. As a result, job displacement is a concern. The question on everyone’s mind is “Will AI take over jobs or create new ones?” Well, frankly speaking, the answer actually lies somewhere between them.
AI as a “Job Consumer”
There is no doubt that AI has certainly automated some of the industries that were in the hands of humans. It is kind of obvious because AI is much faster and more accurate than humans in routine and repetitive jobs such as data entry, customer service, writing an essay, etc.
- AI in repetitive jobs- AI nails jobs that require speed, precision, and consistency rather than creativity. Which can ultimately create job deficiency.
- Automation on specific industries- Sectors heavily reliant on routine tasks such as logistics and manufacturing are more likely to experience job losses due to usage of AI.
AI as a “Job creator”
While AI may eliminate some jobs, it’s also creating opportunities. As the demand of using AI is increasing the demand of people who can manage AI is also increasing. It’s like making juice. When you will increase the sugar, of course you have to increase the amount of water.
- Demand for AI exparts- Not everyone can use AI. So in order to get the perfect result from AI, demand of AI expart is increasing in drastic way. Not just that, people in the backend are as important as the people in the front. So, skills like machine learning, coding can make anyone pretty useful in this era.
- Economic growth- AI has the potential to drive the economic growth which will create more industries and thousands of new businesses.
The Future
So it is now clear that AI will take over some jobs that were in the human hands but alongside with that AI will create new job fields as well. Yes, it is true that we now have to acquire the knowledge of using AI on our behalf. It would be foolish not to use AI when there is literally no other way left. You can either sit and think how the world was before AI or you can learn the way of using AI to create a great future.Ultimately, the impact of AI on jobs will depend on how we choose to harness its power. By investing in education, training, and research, we can mitigate the negative consequences of AI and maximize its benefits for society.Believe it or not, the world is evolving day by day. It’s enhancing itself. Now if you don’t upgrade yourself, I’m sorry to say this world can be pretty cruel to you. So it is wise to start now until it’s too late.
“Start with what is right rather than what is acceptable.”
-Franz Kafka
